Understanding Your Relationship with Money
Before we can change our money mindset, we must understand it:
Do you like money?
Do you think money is good or bad?
What do you think about wealthy people? (Are they good, bad, greedy, humble?)
What is your current relationship with money?
Why do you want money?
Take a moment to reflect on these questions. Your answers can reveal the limiting beliefs that might be holding you back. For example, if you see wealthy people as greedy, you might subconsciously sabotage your own financial success.
Defining Financial Abundance
Financial abundance looks different for everyone.
Financial abundance can look like traveling the world in first class and living a life of leisure. It might also mean having enough to support your family—kids, spouse, and parents. For others, it’s as simple as paying bills on time and enjoying the occasional takeout meal.
Social media often portrays abundance as mansions, luxury cars, and vacations every month. While this lifestyle looks glamorous, ask yourself: Is this really what I want?
Many people chase these goals because they feel pressured by what they see online, but true abundance is about what feels right to you.
Shifting Your Money Mindset
If financial abundance feels out of reach, I want to show you how to shift your mindset and open yourself up to the flow of money.
1. Money Affirmations
Start with affirmations to reprogram your money beliefs:
“I am worthy of financial abundance.”
“Money flows to me easily and effortlessly.”
“I am a magnet for wealth and success.”
2. Money is Energy
Money is simply energy. It flows where there’s alignment. To attract money, you need to match its energy. This means embodying the feeling of abundance every day, even before you have the physical money.
Ask yourself:
How would you feel if you woke up knowing you had enough money to never worry again?
How would you feel going to work or spending time with loved ones?
What does financial security bring to your life?
Visualization and meditation are excellent tools to help you feel abundant now. When you focus on gratitude and abundance, you invite more of it into your life.
Shifting How You Talk About Money
Your words are powerful, and what you say about money shapes your reality. Negative money talk is common, but small shifts in your language can make a huge difference in your mindset.
Here’s how to adjust your money talk:
Instead of “It’s expensive,” say “It’s luxurious.”
Instead of “I can’t afford it,” say “I’m looking forward to having it in the future.”
Instead of “I wish I could buy this,” say “I will buy it, just not yet.”
Instead of “I can’t spend any more money,” say “I choose to spend my money on something else.”
By reframing your language, you’ll start to feel more empowered and optimistic about your financial situation.
Your “Why” for Financial Abundance
Without a clear purpose for your financial goals, the journey can feel long and aimless.
Ask yourself: Why do I want money?
Your reason might go deeper than just wanting to buy things or live luxuriously. Maybe you want to provide for your family, give back to your community, or create a legacy. When your intentions are clear and meaningful, the universe will align to support you.

The Way You Spend Money Matters
Are you a thoughtful spender, or do you buy things impulsively when you’re bored or stressed?
Spending money without intention creates negative energy. Why would money flow to you if it’s being wasted on things you don’t need or value?
Instead, aim to spend your money with purpose and meaning. For example, when I buy a pair of sustainable, slow-fashion jeans, I know I’m contributing to a better world. Sure, they might cost three times more than fast-fashion jeans, but I never regret the purchase because it aligns with my values.
It’s not just about how much money you have—it’s about how intentionally you use it.
Whether it’s fast fashion, everyday habits, or impulse buys, studies show that many people spend significant amounts on things that provide only short-term satisfaction (like clothing worn just 7-10 times on average). By redirecting these funds toward thoughtful, meaningful purchases—whether sustainable fashion, quality products, or experiences—you can create long-term value, align your spending with your values, and find greater fulfillment in how you use your resources.
Final Thoughts: Focus on Abundance
Remember:
What you focus on expands.
Would you rather focus on what you lack, or on the abundance already in your life? Gratitude for what you have now creates space for more blessings to come.
Whether it’s adjusting your mindset, shifting your language, or spending more intentionally, the key is to stay aligned with your vision of financial abundance. Take small steps every day, and you’ll eventually see the flow of money improving in your life.
